The Grand Boulevard Farmer's Market is more varied that other similar markets I have attended.
Local businesses, often very small businesses, provide a variety of goods. In addition to vegetables from many local farms, there is often honey available from Northern Florida beekeepers. Salsa, pickles, French pastries, meat of various kinds, cosmetics, and hand made products are often available.
This time of year (November), the market dwindles in size. We walked through this November morning and were surprised to find fresh corn on the cob and fresh tomatoes. The tomatoes were from a farm in Sand Mountain, Alabama and were available later than usual due to the warm weather. The corn was from a farm in North Florida.
We also purchased beans, potatoes, squash and peppers to add to our feast on Thanksgiving.
A word to shoppers: Vegetables are not always less expensive at a farmer's market. It is likely the produce is fresher but it is not always cheaper.
